Two stars. It is a thrilling moment to be Inter fans!
I would yearn romantically for the classic football of the 1960-1970s when I started going to the stadium as a kid. But it is now plain that the classic age of football has ended and will not return—say the black and blue striped jersey, or the white one hooped with the two FCIM colors, with no sponsoring brands and patches on it, and just numbered from 1 to 11; a regular calendar with all the matches scheduled on Sunday at 3pm and one same order of facing the opponents; the bricks-and-mortar spots to buy the tickets even last minute...
During almost 60 years since I have been following Inter if not in the stadium, on radio and television, the best moments correspond to those 40 times lived in the crowd inside the arena. I could fill many pages of yes-no periods and still not bring the reader to any deep knowledge of what it is I feel for: the poet and Inter fan, Giovanni Raboni, wrote that "si è tifosi della propria squadra perché si è tifosi della propria vita".
My personal Inter narrative supports innumerable players, many qualified as champions of football while many others outstanding in supporting roles, but all the same truly fixed in the sentimental memory—some players happen to drop in on my REM sleep!
So far Inter is the 2-star football club I used to follow since I was 8-year-old and these underneath are the Inter players I have seen LIVE from the crowd, listed in chronological order. The list is tantamount to 3600 minutes I spent to side with those Inter teams on the pitch. As a certainty this 1968-2024 summary of Inter line-ups includes both the best known footballers in activity and the oldest players whose names the yougsters have never heard: but they all made a piece of the Inter legends. I am, you know, related to each of them players. Moreover Internazionale means "Brothers of the World"!
